Chapter 8: The Media Storm Breaks

While the drama unfolded inside the Santillán mansion, the digital world outside was experiencing a seismic shockwave.

At exactly 2:00 PM, a massive, synchronized data dump hit every major news outlet, financial wire service, and social media platform simultaneously. Dubbed #TheSantillánPapers, the leak contained hundreds of gigabytes of verified internal emails, audio recordings, bank wire receipts, and confidential government communications detailing four decades of corruption, corporate manslaughter, labor exploitation, and political bribery orchestrated by Arthur Santillán and his inner circle.

Within ten minutes of the release, the stock price of Santillán Holdings plummeted by sixty-five percent before trading was forcibly halted by the stock exchange board.

Outside the gated perimeter of the estate, media vans began arriving in droves, their satellite dishes pointing frantically toward the sky as reporters scrambled to set up live broadcasts. Helicopters hovered overhead, their camera lenses zooming in on the tactical vehicles parked in the courtyard.

Inside the study, the television mounted on the walnut-paneled wall flickered to life.

“Breaking news,” a breathless anchor on a major global news network announced, her face pale under the studio lights. “We are receiving unconfirmed reports that federal authorities, backed by international financial crimes units, have executed a sweeping series of raids on properties linked to billionaire industrialist Arthur Santillán. The charges include corporate racketeering, involuntary manslaughter, and massive embezzlement. Trading in Santillán Holdings has been suspended indefinitely...”

Victoria Santillán’s frantic screaming could be heard faintly echoing down the hallway as she watched the broadcast from the foyer television, realizing that her entire world of high-society galas, private jets, and untouchable luxury had evaporated into thin air in less than an hour.

Rodrigo stared at the screen, his face entirely devoid of color. He slumped back into the leather chair, burying his face in his hands. The golden boy was gone. There was nothing left.

Arthur Santillán, however, didn't look at the television. He kept his eyes fixed entirely on Camila.

"You planned this down to the very second," Arthur murmured, his voice hollow. "You didn't just want revenge. You wanted total annihilation."

"Justice, Arthur," Camila corrected quietly, turning off the television with a remote control. "Annihilation is just what happens when you build a house out of lies and expect it to stand against the wind."
