Chapter 4: The Patriarch Enters

Before Victoria could recover enough breath to scream another insult, the heavy iron security doors at the far end of the East Wing corridor burst open with a resounding crash.

Heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway, accompanied by the furious, authoritative roar of patriarch Arthur Santillán.
"What in the name of hell is going on here?!" Arthur bellowed, storming into the foyer, leaning heavily on a solid gold-headed walking cane. Behind him trailed three private security guards, their hands hovering nervously over their holstered sidearms. "The entire estate perimeter alarm just triggered! Security, clear these freaks out of my house immediately! Shoot if you have to!"
Arthur Santillán was a man built of pure ego and ruthless ambition. For forty years, he had ruled the industrial and shipping sectors with an iron fist, crushing rivals, buying politicians, and treating human beings as disposable commodities. He stopped abruptly as he caught sight of the tactical gear, the broken front doors, and his son Rodrigo slumped against the marble pillar in a state of visible shock.
Then, his cold, rheumy eyes landed on Camila.
"You," Arthur snarled, his face twisting into a mask of pure disgust. "I told Rodrigo that bringing a penniless nobody into this family was a mistake. You invited reporters? Activists? Is this some kind of cheap blackmail stunt for a bigger alimony settlement?"
Camila didn’t blink. She slowly walked over to one of the mahogany armchairs near the fireplace, brushed an imaginary speck of dust off the armrest, and sat down, crossing one leg over the other with absolute grace.
"Alimony, Arthur?" Camila said, her lips curving into a chilling, humorless smile. "You don't have enough money left in the world to pay alimony."
Arthur let out a harsh, barking laugh, though a bead of cold sweat rolled down his wrinkled temple as he noticed Commander Vance standing rigidly behind Camila’s chair.
"Listen to me, little girl," Arthur sneered, leaning heavily on his cane as he stepped closer. "I built this empire from the ground up with my bare hands. I own the ports, I own the shipping lanes, I own half the judges in this state. Whatever little theatrical stunt you’ve pulled with these rented thugs, it ends right now. Kneel down, beg for forgiveness, and sign whatever papers my lawyers put in front of you, and maybe—just maybe—I’ll let you leave this estate with the clothes on your back."
Arthur’s security guards stepped forward, drawing their Tasers and leveling them directly at Commander Vance and the tactical team.
"Drop your weapons and face the wall!" the lead security guard barked. "Last warning!"
Vance didn't even flinch. He slowly raised his right hand and gave a single, subtle hand signal.
Click. Click. Click.
From the second-floor gallery above the grand staircase, red laser sights flickered to life simultaneously, bathing Arthur and his three private guards in dozens of crimson dots. From the shadows of the upper balconies, four more tactical snipers lowered their assault rifles, locking their crosshairs squarely on the guards' chests.

Arthur’s guards froze instantly, the color draining from their faces as they realized they were outgunned, outmaneuvered, and completely surrounded.
"Lower your weapons," Vance commanded, his voice dropping an octave into a tone of absolute, chilling finality. "Or your next breath will be your last."
