Part 8: The Great Exposure

The acoustic silence in St. Jude Cathedral shattered like glass as Brooke’s scream echoed against the vaulted stone ceiling.
She dropped her bouquet of white lilies onto the scattered financial documents, the delicate flowers staining red against the dropped papers as crushed petals scattered across the marble floor.
“You lied to me!” Brooke shrieked, lunging forward and landing a sharp, stinging slap across Dominic’s left cheek.
The loud crack resonated through every microphone in the sanctuary.
Dominic staggered sideways, clutching his burning cheek with one hand while desperately trying to shield himself from the furious barrage of blows that followed.
“You told me you were a billionaire tech mogul!” Brooke sobbed hysterically, her designer veil tearing completely off her head as she beat her fists against his tuxedo chest.
“You told me your wife was barren and you needed a real family!
You told me our baby would inherit your empire!
And now I find out you’re a broke, indicted fraud facing federal prison who can’t even have children?!”
Olivia shrieked in horror, rushing up the altar steps to protect her son from his betrayed bride.
“How dare you touch my son, you ungrateful little gold-digger!” Olivia screamed, grabbing a handful of Brooke’s bridal veil and yanking her backward.
“My son is a visionary!
This is all a fabricated conspiracy engineered by his bitter ex-wife!”
Mr. Kensington stepped into the fray, pulling his weeping daughter away from the chaotic family brawl while glaring at Olivia with murder in his eyes.
“Stay away from my daughter, you lying witch!” Mr. Kensington roared, pointing a trembling finger at Dominic.
“My lawyers will seize every asset you have left by sunset!
You’re finished, Vance! You hear me? You’re completely and utterly ruined!”
I watched the unfolding disaster with calm detachment, gently rocking Grace against my chest as she finally stirred from her nap, letting out a soft, sleepy yawn.
The paparazzi near the back doors were capturing every single second of the meltdown, their camera shutters firing like rapid-fire artillery.
Dominic stood amidst the wreckage of his wedding altar, his expensive tuxedo wrinkled and stained, his cheek red and swollen from the slap, and his entire life reduced to ash in less than ten minutes.
He slowly turned his head, his bloodshot eyes meeting mine through the chaos.
There was no anger left in his gaze—only a pathetic, hollow despair.
“Eleanor…” he choked out, taking a desperate step toward me before the private security guards finally intervened, grabbing him by the shoulders and shoving him back against the altar rail.
“Please… we have a history… help me fix this…”
I adjusted Grace’s blanket, looking down at him with an expression of profound, crushing indifference.
“History, Dominic?” I asked quietly, my voice carrying clearly over the shouting of the angry guests.
“History is something people build with truth and respect.
What you built was a house of cards resting on lies and theft.”
I turned around gracefully, walking back down the center aisle as the cathedral descended into absolute war behind me.
As I stepped out through the heavy oak doors into the cool afternoon air, the flashing lights of a dozen news cameras blinded me momentarily.
Miller held open the limousine door with a respectful nod.
“Shall we head back to the estate, Mrs. Vance?” he asked calmly.
“Yes, Miller,” I replied, settling into the plush leather seat and kissing Grace’s soft forehead.
“Let’s go home.”
As the limousine pulled away from the curb, I looked out the tinted window for one last glimpse of St. Jude Cathedral.
Dominic was being escorted out the side doors by federal marshals, his hands cuffed behind his back, while reporters swarmed around him like locusts.
The first step of his downfall was complete.

But as I checked my phone and saw a cryptic text message from Leo regarding Dominic’s offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands, I knew the real reckoning was only just beginning.
What secret was hidden in those offshore vaults, and who was waiting for Dominic at the federal holding facility?
