Chapter 4: The Iron Protocol

The subterranean garage of the Villaseñor mansion smelled of polished leather, expensive engine oil, and absolute isolation.

Marisol stood beside the sleek black Maybach, her breath coming in shallow gasps as little Valentina clutched her worn stuffed rabbit tighter to her chest.

The heavy titanium key ring Diego had given her felt cold and heavy in her palm, a literal and figurative key to a world she had never belonged to.

“Get in, Señora Marisol,” the elderly driver, Mateo, said quietly as he held the rear door open for them.

Mateo had worked for the Villaseñor family for over thirty years; he had driven Diego to school as a boy and had seen every secret the family tried to bury.

His eyes met Marisol’s in the rearview mirror, filled with a deep, silent understanding.

“Mr. Diego gave strict instructions,” Mateo continued, his voice steady despite the chaos echoing from the gates far above.

“The Polanco penthouse is completely secure. No media, no corporate spies, and biometric access only.”

Marisol slid into the plush leather seat, pulling Valentina onto her lap.

As the heavy armored doors of the garage began to slide open, she caught a glimpse of the front gates through the security monitors mounted near the exit.

A sea of flashing camera bulbs illuminated the morning fog, dozens of reporters shouting questions, microphones thrust against the iron bars like grasping hands.

Paulina’s digital bomb had detonated successfully.

The Maybach glided smoothly out of the estate through a private service tunnel, bypassing the media circus entirely.

Meanwhile, back inside the mansion, Diego stood before the locked double doors of Paulina’s suite.

He didn’t knock.

He didn’t ask her to open up.

Instead, he pulled a master override card from his wallet and swiped it against the digital wall panel.

The heavy lock clicked open with a sharp mechanical hiss.

Diego pushed the door open and stepped inside, his eyes scanning the luxurious room until he found Paulina standing by the panoramic window, a triumphant grin plastered across her face as she watched the news reports on a wall-mounted television.

“You broke the security protocol of this house, Paulina,” Diego said, his voice terrifyingly calm.

Paulina turned around, crossing her arms over her silk robe with a smirk.

“And you broke your engagement by admitting you have a bastard child with a maid,” she shot back, stepping closer.

“The board is holding an emergency vote right now. They will strip you of your CEO title by noon.”

Diego walked slowly toward her, his expression entirely devoid of warmth.

“You think my title comes from a board of directors?” he asked softly, stopping just a foot away from her.

“You think Villaseñor Industries belongs to them?”

He pulled his own phone from his pocket, tapped the screen twice, and held it out for her to see.

It wasn't a corporate document.

It was a legal termination notice canceling the Robles family’s multi-million dollar construction contracts with Villaseñor Corp, effective immediately.

Paulina’s triumphant smile faltered for the first time.

“You wouldn't,” she whispered, her voice dropping an octave.

“Try me,” Diego replied, locking his gaze onto hers.

“And pack your bags. You have twenty minutes before security escorts you out the front door.”

Before Paulina could scream in protest, Diego turned his back on her and walked out, leaving her alone in the massive suite as her world began to crumble around her.

He had won the first battle, but the true war for his family, his company, and his daughter had only just begun.
