Chapter 16: The Dawn of Reckoning

The morning sun broke over the skyline of Mexico City like a sheet of molten gold, casting long, sharp shadows across the tarmac of the international airport.

A fleet of black federal police cruisers and unmarked tactical vans surrounded the private aviation hangar, their emergency lights flashing a silent, ominous warning against the gray concrete.

Inside the terminal, Senator Robles paced back and forth, his face slick with sweat and his tailored suit jacket unbuttoned as he barked furious orders into his phone.

“What do you mean the interceptors lost him?” the Senator screamed, his voice cracking with rising panic.

“Find that jet and force it down before it touches the ground!”

Suddenly, the heavy sliding doors of the private runway hangar ground open.

A sleek white-and-gold Gulfstream taxied smoothly across the tarmac, its twin engines whining down to a quiet hum as it came to a complete halt right in front of the bay.

The Senator stopped pacing.

His eyes widened in sheer disbelief as the aircraft's pressurized main door hissed open and the motorized staircase lowered.

Diego Villaseñor stepped out into the crisp morning air.

He didn't look like a disgraced CEO facing corporate ruin.

He moved with absolute, terrifying authority, holding the reinforced black drive case in his right hand like a loaded weapon.

As Diego descended the stairs, a column of armed federal marshals marched past him, led by Chief Justice Morales himself.

“Senator Robles,” the Chief Justice called out, his voice echoing across the empty hangar with the weight of a falling executioner's axe.

“You are under arrest for treason, embezzlement, and obstruction of justice.”

Senator Robles stumbled backward, his face turning the color of ash as two federal agents pinned his arms behind his back and slapped heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.

“This is an outrage! You can't touch me! I am a sitting senator!” he shrieked, kicking wildly as they dragged him past the flashing lights.

Diego stopped a few feet away, watching the downfall of his enemy with cold, unblinking detachment.

He didn't say a single word.

He didn't have to.

The empire that had tried to bury him had just crumbled into dust.

And as Diego turned his gaze toward the horizon facing the Toluca highway, he knew that the true victory was still waiting for him at home.
