Chapter 10 - The Grandmother's Wrath

Wood splinters flew through the air like dangerous shrapnel.
Through the smoke and rain, an imposing figure stepped into the boathouse.
It was Eleanor, holding a massive, double-barreled shotgun.
"Get away from my family, you worthless piece of trash!" she roared.
Marcus spun around in shock, raising his handgun to fire.
But the old woman was infinitely faster.
Eleanor pulled the trigger, and a deafening blast shattered the small room.
The shot missed Marcus's body but obliterated the wooden beam right next to his head.
The shockwave sent Marcus stumbling backward in panic.
Julian didn't waste a single second of the distraction.
He lunged forward and tackled Marcus hard to the floorboards.
The handgun slid across the wet floor, out of reach.
Julian rained heavy punches down on his former friend, releasing years of pent-up anger.
Sarah quickly grabbed Elena and pulled her behind a stack of old boat supplies.
"That's enough, Julian!" Eleanor shouted over the storm.
Julian stopped, breathing heavily, leaving a bruised and bloody Marcus on the floor.
Eleanor kept the shotgun trained steadily on the defeated man.
Julian stood up and ran over to Sarah and Elena, pulling them both into a tight embrace.
Tears streamed down his face as he held his family together for the first time in five years.
"How did you get here, Mom?" Julian asked, amazed by his mother's timing.
"I called a very old, very dangerous friend," Eleanor said grimly.
Suddenly, a sleek black helicopter descended over the lake, its spotlight blinding them all.
The deafening sound of the rotors drowned out the thunder.

A voice boomed over a loudspeaker from the sky.
"Drop the weapon and step outside, all of you!" the voice commanded.
