Chapter 9: The Revocation Clause

Thomas was taken into custody.
He admitted copying Elena’s security key and manipulating internal alerts, but he insisted he had acted under pressure.
Veronica had discovered he had diverted company funds years earlier to cover his son’s medical debts.
She threatened to expose him unless he helped build Monarch Ridge.
Thomas had believed the plan was a hostile acquisition.
He claimed he had never known anyone intended to harm Elena or Lucas.
Elena did not forgive him.
But she believed his fear.
The next emergency board meeting was broadcast to regulators, employees, and major investors.
Elena presented Mara’s recording.
Veronica listened without expression.
“That recording proves nothing,” she said. “My voice could have been fabricated exactly as Elena’s was.”
A forensic analyst confirmed that the recording appeared authentic, but the altered male voice remained unidentified.
Then Veronica placed a sealed document on the table.
Thomas turned pale.
“Where did you get that?”
“From the late Viktor Voss.”
The document was a revocation clause signed by Elena’s father.
It stated that if Elena used Voss Global authority for personal retaliation, control would transfer to the holder of the special voting shares.
Lucas.
Veronica addressed the board.
“Elena froze Damian’s personal accounts immediately after he humiliated her. She ordered his assets liquidated without independent review. That is the definition of personal retaliation.”
Elena rose.
“Damian’s contracts contained automatic default provisions.”
“Which you activated with one signature.”
“After he violated them.”
Veronica smiled.
“Convenient timing.”
The board was required to vote on whether the revocation clause applied.
Lucas remained missing, but his vote had been submitted through an encrypted shareholder system less than ten minutes earlier.
The vote appeared on the screen.
Lucas Voss: Apply revocation clause. Remove Elena Voss permanently.
Elena stared at the result.
Julian leaned toward her.
“That vote may have been forced.”
Thomas shook his head.
“Lucas’s authorization system cannot be copied. It requires a physical code embedded in the share certificate.”
Elena reached into her bag.
She placed the certificate she had found on the table.
The embedded code had been cut out.
The board’s final decision appeared moments later.
Elena Voss was no longer the controlling shareholder of the company she had founded.
Control transferred to Lucas.
Then every screen in the boardroom turned black.
Lucas’s face appeared.
He looked directly into the camera.
“Elena,” he said, “do exactly what Veronica tells you.”

Someone stepped into view behind him.
And pressed a hand onto his shoulder.
