Chapter 4: The Last Voss Heir

The certificate carried their father’s seal.
Elena recognized the signature.
It was genuine.
Lucas owned only two percent of Voss Global, but the shares belonged to a special class created during the company’s founding.
They carried veto authority during a criminal investigation involving the principal shareholder.
As long as Elena remained under investigation, Lucas could block every decision she made.
“You knew Damian was moving against me,” Elena said.
Lucas looked at the blue folder.
“I knew he wanted access to Voss Global.”
“And you helped him?”
“I helped myself.”
Julian stepped forward.
“Monarch Ridge was used to move stolen funds.”
“Not stolen,” Lucas replied. “Repositioned.”
“Using Elena’s authorization.”
Lucas looked directly at his sister.
“She gave it to me.”
Elena’s face remained still.
“That never happened.”
Lucas removed a small audio device from his case.
He pressed a button.
Elena’s voice filled the archive.
“Move the funds before Damian sees the exposure report. Use Monarch Ridge. No one can know the authorization came from me.”
The recording ended.
Julian immediately shook his head.
“It could be fabricated.”
“It was submitted to federal investigators with a verified timestamp,” Lucas said.
Elena listened again.
The voice sounded exactly like hers.
The pauses.
The breathing.
Even the slight hesitation before the word “authorization.”
Lucas stepped closer.
“You took everything after our father died. The company. The voting rights. His trust.”
“He offered you a place here.”
“He offered me a chair in the corner while you controlled the room.”
“You left.”
“Because you made staying impossible.”
For a moment, the conspiracy disappeared.
They were no longer powerful shareholders standing inside a corporate archive.
They were two grieving children arguing over a father who had never taught either of them how to lose him.
Lucas closed the document case.
“Tomorrow, the board will decide whether you remain in control.”
“You’re voting against me.”
“I’m voting for the truth.”
He walked toward the door.
Elena stopped him.
“Who owns Monarch Ridge?”
Lucas glanced over his shoulder.
“You already know.”
Elena looked down at the acquisition documents.
At the bottom of the final page was a registration number she had overlooked.
Julian entered it into the corporate database.
The true beneficiary appeared on the screen.
Hale Family Office.

Veronica Hale had not been helping Damian build an empire.
She had been preparing to steal both his empire and Elena’s.
