# Chapter 19: The Hidden Heir

Adrian stepped out into the hallway.
He tore open the thick manila envelope.
Inside was a stack of yellowed, certified birth certificates and adoption papers.
“I stole these from Charles’s safe before I ran,” Martin explained.
“I thought I could use them as leverage.”
Adrian scanned the first document.
It was a birth certificate from thirty years ago.
The mother’s name was listed as Eleanor Vale.
Charles’s late sister.
The father’s name was completely blank.
“Eleanor had a child out of wedlock,” Martin said.
“Charles considered it a stain on the family’s perfect reputation.”
He pointed to the second document.
“He forced her to give the child up for adoption immediately.”
“Eleanor died by suicide a year later.”
Adrian frowned, reading the adoption records.
The child was placed with a working-class family in the city.
The adoptive parents’ names leaped off the page.
Thomas and Mary Hayes.
Evelyn’s parents.
Adrian’s blood ran cold.
He stared at the paperwork in absolute disbelief.
“Evelyn is Charles Vale’s biological niece,” Adrian whispered.
“Yes,” Martin confirmed.
“Which means she is the rightful heir to exactly half of the Vale empire.”
Adrian finally understood everything.
The private investigator his mother hired hadn’t just found financial fraud.
He had found Eleanor’s hidden child.
Charles murdered the investigator and Adrian’s mother to keep Evelyn’s true identity buried forever.
He had destroyed lives for three decades just to maintain his grip on a company.
“Does Bianca know?” Adrian asked.
“No,” Martin replied.
“Charles kept it hidden from everyone.”
Adrian carefully folded the documents and placed them in his pocket.
The game had entirely changed.
Evelyn wasn’t just an employee who had married a billionaire.
She was royalty in their world.
And when she woke up, she was going to burn Charles Vale’s remaining legacy to the ground.

Adrian walked toward the ICU double doors.
He was ready to face his wife.
