Chapter 3 – Diana's Flight Ends Early
Meanwhile, Flight 1847 to Miami had reached cruising altitude.
Diana Harlo ordered champagne.
She smiled for the first time all day.
The children were someone else's problem now.
Or so she believed.
Halfway through the flight, a flight attendant approached her seat.
"Ms. Diana Harlo?"
"Yes?"
"When we land, airport police will need to speak with you."
Her smile vanished.
"What?"
"The authorities have received reports regarding two abandoned minors."
Every passenger nearby turned toward her.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
The flight attendant remained calm.
"You may explain everything after landing."
By the time the aircraft reached Miami, detectives were already waiting at the gate.
Diana tried to insist the children had wandered away.
Security footage proved otherwise.
Every camera showed the same sequence.
She told Maddie to stay.
She boarded alone.
She never looked back.
She was arrested before leaving the terminal.
