Six months later, the courtroom overflowed with reporters.
Richard pleaded guilty to multiple federal financial crimes.
He received a lengthy prison sentence and permanent disqualification from serving as a corporate executive.
Vanessa stood trial for aggravated assault resulting in catastrophic bodily injury, along with additional criminal charges related to the attack.
The jury deliberated for less than three hours.
"Guilty."
She collapsed into tears as deputies escorted her away.
Outside the courthouse, microphones surrounded Harrison.
A reporter asked the question everyone wanted answered.
"Mr. Cole, do you feel you've won?"
Harrison looked toward the courthouse steps where his sister had nearly died.
Then he quietly replied,
"My sister survived."
"My niece survived."
