An ambulance finally arrived to treat Emily's injuries.
As the paramedics untied her wrists, she grabbed Daniel's hand.
"There... there's something I never told you."
Daniel nodded.
"What is it?"
Emily swallowed hard.
"My son..."
"...wasn't admitted because of an illness."
Daniel frowned.
"What do you mean?"
Emily handed him her phone.
On the screen were dozens of threatening messages.
Each one came from Victoria.
If you leave this house...
Your son disappears.
Keep working.
Stay quiet.
Daniel felt sick.
Victoria hadn't simply abused Emily.
She had arranged for two men to kidnap Emily's eight-year-old son from school earlier that morning to stop her from leaving the mansion.
Daniel immediately called the police.
Within two hours, detectives traced the vehicle through traffic cameras.
Emily's frightened little boy was rescued unharmed from an abandoned warehouse outside the city.
