The evidence team had nearly finished when one investigator received a phone call.
He listened quietly.
Then looked at Ernesto.
"The emergency order has been approved."
Julián frowned.
"What order?"
The investigator turned his tablet toward him.
"All accounts connected to the forged loan have been frozen pending investigation."
Julián's face drained of color.
"That's impossible."
"It happened five minutes ago."
Valeria stared at him.
"You always said we were broke."
Julián said nothing.
The investigator continued.
"We also located a private investment account."
Balance:
$2.8 million.
Valeria's knees nearly gave out.
"You told me we couldn't afford my medical appointments."
Julián lowered his head.
The investigator spoke again.
"The account was funded using loans secured against property that did not belong to you."
Ernesto looked at his daughter.
"He wasn't protecting the family."
"He was preparing to leave you with the debt."
