Chapter 3: The Secret She Couldn't Hide
I returned home with a court order freezing every shared account.
Victoria was calmly packing designer handbags into expensive suitcases.
She wasn't surprised to see me.
"I assumed you'd figure it out eventually."
"Where are you going?"
She smiled.
"Somewhere people appreciate ambition."
I handed her the financial documents.
"The accounts are frozen."
For the first time, her confidence cracked.
"You can't do that."
"I already did."
She laughed bitterly.
"You think Emily matters more than your own wife?"
"No."
I stared into her eyes.
"I think humanity matters."
She stepped closer.
"You wouldn't destroy your family over a nanny."
I quietly placed another envelope on the table.
Private investigators had already delivered it.
Inside were photographs.
Victoria wasn't leaving alone.
For nearly a year she had been secretly meeting another man—a luxury real estate developer—and together they had been moving money through shell companies.
She stared at the photographs.
"You had me followed?"
May you like
"No."
"You betrayed yourself."
