The emergency room exploded into motion.
Doctors surrounded Santi while Rosa waited outside, shaking uncontrollably.
Nearly an hour later, Tomás Montiel arrived straight from the airport.
His expensive suit was still wrinkled from the flight.
"What happened to my son?"
Rosa could barely speak.
Before she answered, Valeria stepped forward.
"The maid poisoned his bottle."
Silence filled the hallway.
Tomás stared at Rosa.
Disbelief slowly turned into anger.
"You?"
Rosa burst into tears.

"It was her."
Valeria's expression never changed.
"She's trying to save herself."
At that moment, the emergency physician walked toward them holding a laboratory report.
"The infant survived."
Everyone released a breath.
Then the doctor continued.
"But the toxicology results found high levels of prescription sedatives."
He looked directly at Tomás.
"This wasn't an accident."
"This was intentional."
