The blonde woman shook uncontrollably.
"I don't know what you're talking about!"
Ruiz calmly slid another photograph across the table.
It showed her meeting an older man inside an underground parking garage three nights earlier.
Her own father.
Richard Lawson.
Chairman of the family's investment company.
The detective spoke quietly.
"Your father hired a private investigator to learn Mrs. Harper's daily routine."
"Then he instructed you to make the accident look natural."
The front door opened once more.
Richard himself walked inside with his attorney.
He smiled confidently.
"My daughter won't answer another question."
Ruiz smiled back.
"She doesn't have to."
He nodded toward another detective.
The second investigator placed a voice recorder on the table.
Richard's smile disappeared.
The recording began.
His own voice filled the room.
"If the baby dies... the inheritance returns to our side of the family."
The attorney slowly lowered his briefcase.
Richard lunged toward the recorder.
An officer intercepted him immediately.
The blonde woman stared at her father.
"You recorded us?"
The detective answered.
"No."
"The person you hired to arrange the attack decided prison wasn't worth your money."
"He cooperated yesterday."
Richard closed his eyes.
For the first time in decades...
The powerful businessman understood he had already lost.
Officers placed both father and daughter in handcuffs.
As they were escorted away, the blonde woman turned toward the pregnant woman.
"You planned all of this."
The pregnant woman finally spoke.
