Chapter 3 – The Woman Who Knew Everything

The front door opened again.
An elderly woman entered quietly, leaning on a wooden cane.
Amara's eyes lit up.
"Grandma Evelyn!"
The old woman hurried over and wrapped the little girl in a warm embrace.
When she looked up and saw Marcus holding the bracelet...
She closed her eyes.
"So..." she whispered.
"It finally happened."
Danielle stepped forward.
"Please don't."
Evelyn ignored her.
She reached into her purse and removed a worn envelope that had yellowed with age.
"I promised your mother I would only give you this when the truth could no longer be hidden."
Marcus accepted the envelope with trembling hands.
Inside were photographs.
Hospital records.
A handwritten letter.
And one sentence immediately caught his attention.

Marcus slowly looked up.

Danielle broke into tears.
"I never wanted her to lose another parent."
