Chapter 4: Evelyn's Final Decision
A week later Evelyn gathered the family once again.
This time there were no hidden cameras.
No recordings.
No accusations.
Only one document.
"My new will."
Everyone looked at her in silence.
She turned to Daniel.
"You already received your inheritance."
"You spent it ten years ago."
Daniel lowered his head.
Evelyn continued.
"My remaining estate will be divided equally."
She paused before adding,
"But Grace..."
She smiled gently.
"You are no longer my daughter-in-law."
"You are my daughter."
The room fell silent.
Daniel looked up in shock.
Grace immediately shook her head.
"I don't need your money."
Evelyn smiled through tears.
"This isn't payment."
"It never could be."
"It's simply where you have always belonged."
For the first time since the truth came out...
Grace embraced Evelyn.
