Chapter 2: Daniel Loses Everything
Chapter 2: Daniel Loses Everything
The next morning, Daniel arrived at his company's headquarters expecting another ordinary workday.
Instead, security guards were waiting at the entrance.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Harper."
"You no longer have authorization to enter."
Daniel stared in disbelief.
"What?"
Arthur Brooks stepped from a black sedan holding another folder.
"The board met before sunrise."
"They watched the recording."
"They've accepted your resignation."
Daniel's hands began shaking.
"You can't destroy my life over one mistake."
Arthur looked at him without anger.
"One mistake?"
"You stole from your own mother."
"You framed an innocent woman."
"You lied every single day for ten years."
"That wasn't one mistake."
"That was a lifestyle."
Within hours the news spread.
Investors withdrew.
Clients canceled contracts.
Banks demanded immediate repayment of outstanding loans.
Everything Daniel had protected with stolen jewelry collapsed in less than a day.
As reporters surrounded the building, no one stood beside him.
Not one employee.
May you like
Not one friend.
Not even family.
