Chapter 3 – The Empire She Never Owned

Within twenty minutes, the luxury celebration had transformed into something no one could have imagined.

Police officers arrived.

Corporate investigators followed.

Every employee who had witnessed the attack was interviewed separately.

The blonde woman demanded a lawyer.

Then demanded to speak with the board.

Then demanded to see her father.

No one came.

Because her father had already signed a statement earlier that afternoon.

He admitted he had secretly transferred company funds for years while using his daughter's position to influence business decisions.

The investigation had already begun before today's party.

Her attack simply accelerated everything.

Inside the ambulance, the pregnant wife finally opened her eyes.

Her husband climbed inside beside her, gently taking her hand.

"I'm sorry," he whispered.

"I should have protected you sooner."

She smiled weakly.

"You did."

"You came."

Their little daughter climbed into the ambulance and wrapped her tiny arms around her mother as carefully as she could.

"I thought I lost you."

"You never will," her mother whispered.

Tears finally rolled down the husband's face.

Not from fear.

From relief.

Hours later...

Doctors confirmed both mother and baby would recover.

The child had survived without permanent injury.

Outside the hospital, reporters surrounded the husband.

One journalist asked the question everyone wanted answered.

"Why didn't you reveal you were the company's real owner years ago?"

He smiled quietly.

"Because I wanted people to show me who they really were."

"They did."
