CHAPTER 1 — THE NAME BEHIND THE CHAOS

The ballroom remained frozen after Victoria’s calm command.
No one moved.
Chloe Harrington stood still, her champagne glass trembling slightly in her hand for the first time that evening. She had expected embarrassment, maybe anger—but not silence that felt like authority.
Minutes later, the heavy doors of Gallery Hall A opened.
Three security officers entered, followed by a man in a dark tailored suit. His presence immediately changed the air in the room. Conversations died completely.
He walked straight toward Victoria without hesitation.

The crowd reacted instantly.
Whispers spread like fire.
Sterling? That Sterling family?
Chloe’s face tightened. She knew that name—but refused to believe what it implied.
Victoria finally looked up.
“Remove the disturbance,” she said calmly, her voice soft but absolute.
The man nodded once.
“Understood.”
Then he turned his gaze toward Chloe.
For the first time, Chloe felt something unfamiliar.
