Chapter 5: A New Beginning
Six months later, sunlight filled the hospital room.
A healthy baby boy slept peacefully in his mother's arms.
Detective Ruiz stood at the doorway holding a small gift.
"The court finished sentencing today."
The blonde received a lengthy prison sentence for attempted murder, fraud, and conspiracy.
Every stolen dollar had been recovered.
The family trust was restored.
The young mother smiled at her son.
"You'll never have to grow up surrounded by lies."
Ruiz looked at the sleeping child.
"You know..."
"Most people think courage means fighting."
She smiled.
"Sometimes courage means waiting."
"Waiting until the truth has nowhere left to hide."
Outside the hospital window, the morning sun rose over the city.
The nightmare was over.
