Richard wasn't finished.
"There is one final matter."
Margaret slowly shook her head.
"No more."
But there was.
He placed another folder onto the table.
"For six years, charitable funds belonging to the Whitmore Foundation have been redirected into private accounts."
Gasps spread across the ballroom.
Margaret nearly collapsed.
"That's impossible."
"It isn't."
Richard calmly slid several bank statements across the table.
"The evidence has already been delivered to federal investigators."
Daniel grabbed one page.
His hands trembled.
"My mother's signature..."
Every transfer.
Every withdrawal.
Every forged approval.
Everything was there.
Guests who had admired Margaret for decades slowly stepped away from her.
Nobody wanted to stand beside her anymore.
The perfect family image cracked apart in real time.
Margaret reached for Daniel.
"Son..."
He stepped backward.
"No."
"You lied to all of us."
She turned toward me.
"This is your fault!"
I calmly answered.
"No."
"This is the consequence of your own choices."
