Weeks passed.
The house finally felt peaceful.
Oliver recovered completely.
Lena slowly regained her strength.
One rainy afternoon, Oliver wandered into the attic while looking for old toys.

Inside was a handwritten letter addressed to Mason.

The postmark was dated twelve years earlier.
Mason unfolded the yellowed paper.
His father's handwriting filled the page.
"If you're reading this, I wasn't brave enough to tell you while I was alive."
The letter revealed everything.
His father had quietly transferred most of the family's assets into Mason's name years earlier.
