Chapter 4: The Hostile Corporate Takeover

Arthur Pendelton, the elderly chairman of the board and Ryan’s primary co-conspirator, cleared his throat nervously.
"Mrs. Vance—or, ah, Leah," Arthur stammered, adjusting his silk tie.
"While we are deeply shocked by the unfortunate developments regarding Ryan’s personal legal troubles, we must remind you that the board holds binding voting rights on structural asset distribution."
Leah offered a razor-thin, mirthless smile.
She snapped her fingers once.
One of her attorneys stepped forward, placing a thick leather-bound portfolio in front of Arthur.
"Take a look at Tab Four, Arthur," Leah instructed softly.
Arthur fumbled with the pages, his wrinkled fingers shaking as he flipped the heavy paper.
As his eyes scanned the document, his face turned the color of spoiled milk.
"This... this is impossible," Arthur whispered, dropping the paper as if it were burning his skin.
"These are debt-default notices," one of the junior directors blurted out, leaning over to read Arthur's copy.
"Vance Enterprises cross-collateralized its primary commercial real estate holdings against a private credit facility controlled by... by..."
"By me," Leah finished for him, leaning forward slightly.
"Ryan assumed that marrying me would grant him legal immunity to drain my family trust. What he didn't realize was that every single commercial property this company owns was actually purchased using direct loans from my private offshore foundation."
Leah stood up straight, her gaze sweeping across the stunned faces of the men who had spent months laughing behind her back at corporate galas.
"You all knew about the forgery," Leah continued, her voice hardening like steel.
"You all signed off on the fraudulent audits designed to push my father out of his own company before you orchestrated his medical poisoning."
Arthur gripped the edge of the table, his breath coming in shallow, ragged gasps.
"You can't prove that," Arthur croaked, though his voice lacked any real conviction.
"The forensic audit team finished downloading the server logs thirty minutes ago," Leah replied smoothly, checking her diamond-encrusted wristwatch.
"Right now, copies of those files are sitting on the desk of every major financial regulatory body in the country."
She turned toward the door, pausing just before she crossed the threshold.
"Effective immediately, Vance Enterprises is dissolved, liquidated, and absorbed back into the Leah Trust. Security will escort you from the building within ten minutes."
As Leah stepped out into the private hallway, her phone buzzed in her pocket.
It was an encrypted notification from an unknown sender in Zurich.

The message contained a single, chilling audio file labeled: The Zurich Connection—Part Two.
Leah stared at her screen as the elevator doors chimed, realizing that Ryan’s crimes went far deeper than she had ever imagined—and someone else was still pulling the strings from the shadows.
