Chapter 3 — The Family Finally Chose a Side

Handcuffs clicked around Preston's wrists.

The metallic sound echoed through the ballroom.

His mother stepped forward immediately.

"There has to be some mistake!"

Richard raised his voice.

"You can't arrest my son over one misunderstanding!"

Officer Harris never looked away from Preston.

"I've arrested people for far less."

Preston's bride stood motionless.

Her wedding bouquet slipped from her hands.

Flowers scattered across the marble floor.

She stared at the screen.

Then at her husband.

"You framed... a child?"

Preston shook his head desperately.

"I did it for us."

"I couldn't let Evelyn embarrass this wedding."

His bride slowly removed her wedding ring.

She placed it into his cuffed hands.

"I've been married for less than three hours."

"And I already know I made the biggest mistake of my life."

Without another word...

She walked away.

Several guests quietly followed her.

Others approached Evelyn.

One elderly woman wiped away tears.

"I'm sorry."

"We should've spoken sooner."

Another guest handed Officer Harris a phone.

"I recorded everything after the accusation."

"So did I."

Then another.

And another.

Within minutes...
