Arthur slowly opened the folder.
Every page carried the same name.
Evelyn Elizabeth Hart.
Original shareholder.
Founding beneficiary.
Majority voting trustee.
Adrian stared at the papers.
"No..."
Arthur adjusted his glasses.
"You were appointed Chief Executive twelve years ago."
"You were never the owner."
The room became silent.
One board member stepped forward.
"Mr. Cole, the ownership structure was intentionally confidential."
"You were informed that the founder wished to remain anonymous."
Adrian's face turned pale.
"I thought..."
Arthur finished the sentence for him.
"You thought she trusted you enough to hand you everything."
Evelyn finally spoke.
"I trusted you to build the company."
"I never trusted you to own it."
Vanessa slowly backed away.
Everything she believed about Adrian had been built on an illusion.
The reporters inside the ballroom sensed something enormous unfolding.
Camera flashes erupted across the room.
Arthur handed Evelyn a final document.
"Would you like to activate Article Nine?"
She nodded once.
"Do it."
