Chapter 2: The Truth the Groom Could Not Escape

The failed wedding became the talk of the city.

Videos spread online.

Guests shared what they had witnessed.

Most people were shocked by one detail:

The groom had never defended the bride's mother.

As criticism grew, the groom tried repeatedly to contact the bride.

Calls.

Messages.

Letters.

She ignored them all.

Three weeks later, he finally appeared at her apartment.

When she opened the door, he looked exhausted.

"I made a mistake," he said.

The bride remained silent.

"I should have stopped my mother."

"Yes," she replied.

"You should have."

He lowered his eyes.

"I love you."

The bride looked at him sadly.

Then she handed him her father's letter.

He read every word.

By the end, his hands were shaking.

For the first time, he understood.

The problem had never been his mother.

It had been his silence.

A man who allows cruelty becomes part of it.

When he looked up, tears filled his eyes.

But the bride already knew her answer.

"You weren't the man my father hoped I would marry."
