The chapel remained silent long after the bride and her mother walked away.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
The groom stood frozen at the altar while the guests watched the doors slowly close behind them.
Outside, beneath the shade of an old oak tree, the bride finally opened her father's letter again.
Her mother stood beside her quietly.
The handwriting was faded but familiar.

Tears rolled down the bride's cheeks.
