Chapter 3 — A Lesson Money Could Never Buy

The father-in-law slowly stood from his chair.
For the first time in decades...
His pride failed him.
He walked toward Javier.
Every guest watched.
"I owe you an apology."
Javier remained silent.
The old man took a deep breath.
"I judged you because of your job."
"I never looked at your heart."
"I thought success meant expensive suits, luxury cars, and powerful friends."
His eyes became wet.
"But today..."
"You taught me what success really looks like."
He extended his trembling hand.
"I don't deserve your forgiveness."
"But I'm asking for it anyway."
The restaurant became completely still.
After a long pause...
Javier shook his hand.
"I forgave you a long time ago."
The old man could no longer hide his tears.
Lucía embraced both men.
Around them, the restaurant erupted into quiet applause.
Not because Javier was wealthy.
But because kindness had defeated pride.
