Chapter 1: The Bride Who Lost Everything

No one moved.

The silence inside the Beltrán mansion was heavier than any scream.

Valeria stared at the lawyer as though refusing to understand the words he had just spoken.

"This is ridiculous."

She pointed at Clara with a trembling finger.

"She's lying."

"There has to be some mistake."

The senior notary calmly stepped forward and broke the second wax seal.

"There is no mistake."

He displayed the official registry, every page bearing government certification and Arturo Beltrán's unmistakable signature.

"The transfer of ownership became effective six months ago."

"The only reason it remained private was because Miss Clara Montes requested it."

Gasps rippled across the ballroom.

Every guest who had been congratulating Valeria only moments earlier slowly stepped away from her.

Sebastian felt the room spinning.

He grabbed Clara's arm.

"Please."

"I know I made mistakes."

"But we can fix this."

Clara gently removed his hand.

"You aren't sorry because you betrayed me."

"You're sorry because your plan failed."

Sebastian lowered his eyes.

He couldn't deny it.

He had known Clara was Arturo's hidden daughter.

He had promised to protect her.

Instead, when Valeria's wealthy family offered a merger worth hundreds of millions, he abandoned Clara and persuaded her to remain silent "for just a little longer."

Meanwhile, he secretly signed legal documents denying both Clara and her unborn child any claim to the Beltrán estate.

Now those very documents had destroyed his future.

The lawyer turned toward the wedding planner.

"Miss Clara is now the legal owner of this property."

"She has instructed that today's event be terminated immediately."

Security guards approached respectfully.

Not toward Clara...

Toward Valeria and Sebastian.

Valeria's lips parted in disbelief.

"You can't remove me!"

"I am the bride!"

Clara looked at her calmly.

"There is no wedding anymore."

"There never truly was."

The orchestra quietly packed away their instruments.

The photographers lowered their cameras.

Within minutes, the luxurious celebration had become nothing more than an empty ballroom filled with broken pride.

As Sebastian walked toward the exit, he looked back one final time.

Clara wasn't watching him.

She was resting both hands on her unborn child.

For the first time in years...

She finally looked free.
