Chapter 4: A Mother's Twenty-Year Grief

Victoria was arrested before sunrise.

As officers led her away, she finally confessed.

She had never intended to kill Clara.

She only wanted the child to disappear forever.

With Clara gone, Victoria believed she would eventually inherit control of the Montenegro empire.

But Elena had escaped with the little girl before the kidnappers could complete the plan.

For years Victoria paid people to search for them.

Not to rescue Clara.

To silence both of them forever.

Fortunately, Elena constantly moved from town to town, living in poverty but protecting Clara with everything she had.

She never revealed the truth because she feared Victoria's influence.

Only when Elena became terminally ill did she finally tell Clara about the guitar.

"The mansion."

"The song."

"The necklace."

"The letter."

"They will tell you who you are."

Back at the estate, Isabel broke down completely.

She embraced Clara for the first time in twenty years.

Neither woman could stop crying.

No celebration...

No fortune...

No apology...
