Chapter 3: The Secret Witness
Victoria suddenly screamed.
"She's lying!"
She lunged toward the photograph.
Clara instinctively stepped back.
Before anyone could react, an old groundskeeper pushed through the crowd.
His name was Mateo.
For decades he had served the Montenegro family.
"I've kept silent long enough."
His voice echoed across the estate.
"I saw Victoria that night."
Everyone stared.
Mateo lowered his head.
"I watched her hand a suitcase full of money to two men outside the north gate."
"I believed they were business partners."
"But after Clara disappeared..."
"I understood."
Victoria's face twisted with panic.
"You have no proof."
Mateo quietly reached into his jacket.
"I've carried it for twenty years."
Inside was a rusted key.
"The kidnappers dropped it while fleeing."
"It opens the old hunting cabin."
Police officers, already called by several guests, immediately searched the property.
Hours later they discovered something horrifying.
The abandoned cabin contained old children's clothing...
The remains of Elena's diary...
And documents detailing payments made from Victoria's secret bank account to the kidnappers.
