Chapter 2: The Man Who Stole a Family

The chauffeur lowered his umbrella.

His face carried the weight of decades of guilt.

"I was paid to separate them."

The woman looked at him in horror.

"You..."

He nodded.

"Your father ordered it."

The boy's heart pounded.

The chauffeur continued.

"He believed the child would destroy the family's reputation."

"So he arranged everything."

"The accident."

"The false death certificate."

"The disappearance."

"I was ordered to drive you away while your wife was unconscious."

The woman collapsed onto the restaurant steps.

"My father told me my baby drowned..."

"He made me identify another infant."

"I believed I had buried my own son."

The chauffeur handed the boy a sealed envelope.

"I kept this all these years."

Inside were hospital records...

Birth certificates...

Letters the woman had written to her missing child.

None had ever been delivered.

Every birthday.

Every Christmas.

Every year.

She had written another letter.

The final one simply read:

"If you're alive... please forgive me for failing to find you."

The boy could no longer hold back his tears.

For the first time in his life...

He realized he had never truly been abandoned.

Both women who had loved him...

Had been victims.

One had raised him with endless sacrifice.

The other had spent twenty years searching for a child she believed was dead.
