Chapter 2: The Truth Vivian Buried

The engagement party was forgotten.
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
Anna opened the locket.
Inside was a small photograph.
Julian and his wife.
Taken years earlier.
Beside the photo was a folded letter.
A letter addressed to him.
Anna handed it over with trembling hands.
"Your wife asked me to keep it safe."
Julian unfolded the paper.
As he read, his hands began to shake.
The letter revealed something shocking.
His wife had been investigating financial fraud inside one of his companies before her death.
She suspected someone close to Julian was stealing money and manipulating company accounts.
Someone she didn't trust.
Someone she named directly.
Vivian.
Gasps erupted across the ballroom.
Vivian immediately stepped backward.
"That's ridiculous!"
But Anna wasn't finished.
"There is more."
She removed a small flash drive from her pocket.
"Your wife left evidence."
Julian's security team quickly connected the drive to a projector.
Documents appeared on the ballroom screen.
Bank transfers.
Fake contracts.
Hidden accounts.
All connected to Vivian.
The guests watched in stunned silence.
Vivian's composure finally shattered.
"You don't understand!" she screamed.
But it was too late.
The evidence was overwhelming.
Police officers who had been attending the banquet as guests quietly stepped forward.
Within minutes, Vivian was placed under arrest.
As she was escorted away, Sophie held Anna's hand tighter.
"Daddy?"
Julian looked at his daughter.
For the first time in years, he saw how lonely she had been.

And he realized how much Anna had protected her.
Without asking for anything in return.
