Chapter 4: The Last Goodbye

The divorce papers were signed three months later.

Victoria never contested them.

She knew she had already lost.

Not the mansion.

Not the fortune.

Arthur.

Julian.

The family she had destroyed herself.

On the day she left, the mansion was quiet.

No arguments.

No drama.

Only consequences.

Victoria stood beside the front door holding a single suitcase.

Arthur remained in the foyer.

Julian beside him.

She looked at the boy one last time.

"I'm sorry."

Julian didn't answer immediately.

Then he quietly said,

"I hope you find someone you don't have to lie to."

The words hit harder than any punishment.

Victoria lowered her eyes.

A tear slipped down her cheek.

Then she walked away.

The front door closed behind her.

And this time, nobody stopped her.

Months passed.

Arthur rebuilt the company.

More importantly, he rebuilt his relationship with his son.

Every Friday became theirs.

No meetings.

No business calls.

Just father and son.

One evening, while watching the sunset from the mansion balcony, Julian looked up and asked,

"Are we finally okay?"

Arthur smiled.

A real smile.

The first in a very long time.

He wrapped an arm around his son's shoulders.

"Not because everything was perfect."

Julian looked at him.

"Then why?"

Arthur glanced toward the horizon.

"Because the truth finally walked into the light."

Julian smiled.

And for the first time since the nightmare began, neither of them looked back.

The End.
