Chapter 3 – A Debt That Could Never Be Repaid

Hours later, little Emma was sitting up in her hospital bed.

Her color had returned.

She smiled weakly as her father held her hand.

Outside the room, hospital administrators reviewed every second of the emergency.

Security cameras confirmed everything.

The oxygen connector had never been fully secured after a routine equipment check.

The hospital immediately launched an internal investigation.

New safety procedures were introduced.

Every oxygen connection would now require double verification before a patient was left alone.

One mistake had almost cost another child's life.

The hospital director personally searched every hallway for the little boy.

He was gone.

No one had noticed him leave.

The father searched the streets around the hospital until sunset.

Finally, beneath an old bus shelter, he found him sitting alone with a torn backpack.

The boy immediately stood.

"I'm sorry..."

"I wasn't trying to touch your daughter."

The father couldn't answer.

Instead...

He slowly knelt in front of the child.

The wealthy businessman lowered his head.

"I'm the one who should be sorry."

The boy looked confused.

The father reached into his wallet.

The child quietly stepped back.

"I don't want money."

"I only wanted her to live."

For the first time in years...

The father cried.

May you like

Not because he almost lost his daughter.

But because an eight-year-old boy possessed more compassion than many adults he had ever known.
