Chapter 1: The Voice That Destroyed the Lie

The tiny recorder crackled to life.

For a single heartbeat, the entire courtyard remained silent.

Then Juliette's own voice echoed across the marble patio.

"Do it now... Push her deeper. She's only six. She can't fight back."

Emma buried her face against Christopher's shoulder.

Christopher never looked away from his wife.

Another voice answered through the recording.

A man's voice.

"What if someone sees us?"

Juliette laughed.

"No one will. Christopher is still in his meeting. By the time anyone finds her, it'll be an accident."

Gasps spread through the crowd.

Several guests instinctively stepped away from Juliette as though she carried a deadly disease.

Juliette shook her head violently.

"That's fake!"

"It was edited!"

Christopher calmly handed the recorder to the chief of security.

"Play the rest."

The recording continued.

"I'll inherit everything once Emma is gone."

"And Christopher..." Juliette said coldly.

"...will be too broken to question anything."

Christopher slowly removed his wedding ring.

For years, that ring had symbolized trust.

Now it meant nothing.

He placed it on the marble table between them.

"Our marriage ended the moment you decided to murder my daughter."

Juliette's knees nearly gave way.

But she still wasn't finished fighting.

"You can't prove I pushed her."

Christopher finally allowed himself a faint smile.

"I don't have to."

He turned toward the mansion.

"Bring him out."

Seconds later, security escorted a terrified pool maintenance worker into the courtyard.

His hands trembled uncontrollably.

Juliette's face turned ghost white.

May you like

Because she recognized him immediately.

He was the man she had paid.
