Chapter 4: Estelle's Final Move
The police arrived with warrants the next morning.
Estelle smiled as though they were expected guests.
"You have nothing."
Detective Donovan placed the journal, recordings, hospital evidence, and financial records on the table.
"You paid witnesses."
"You ordered a murder."
"You attempted to erase your granddaughter."
For the first time in years...
Estelle lost control.
She grabbed a hidden revolver from a drawer and ran toward the back garden.
Christopher followed.
She stopped beside the same swimming pool where Emma had nearly drowned.
"You'll destroy everything your family built!" Estelle shouted.
Christopher answered calmly.
"No."
"You did."
Police surrounded her from every direction.
With nowhere left to run, Estelle slowly lowered the weapon.
Handcuffs closed around her wrists.
