Chapter 4: A Father's Second Chance

Six months later...
The mansion no longer felt cold.
The locked bedroom had become a bright playroom.
The frightening memories had slowly begun to fade.
Every Wednesday afternoon...
Adrian attended family therapy with his son.
He never missed a session.
Not once.
One evening, they sat together in the backyard planting a young maple tree.
Lena watched from the porch.
The little boy carefully patted the soil around the roots.
"What are we growing, Dad?"
Adrian smiled.
"A new beginning."
The boy looked up.
After a long pause, he quietly reached for Adrian's hand.
For months...
He had refused to do that.
Now...
He held it tightly.
"Dad?"
"Yes?"
"I think Mommy would like this tree."
Adrian felt tears sting his eyes.
"I think she would too."
Months later, Adrian officially established a foundation in his late wife's memory to support children suffering from emotional abuse and neglect.
Lena became its first director.
The little boy visited often, welcoming children who had once felt as alone as he had.
As for the former bride...
She disappeared from the lives she had tried so hard to control.
Adrian never spoke her name again.
Because some weddings create families.
Others reveal who was never worthy of becoming one.
And on the day his marriage ended...
A father finally became the hero his son had been waiting for.
