Chapter 2: The Truth Hidden Behind the Wedding
The silence in the hallway lasted only a heartbeat.
Then Adrian slowly slipped the wedding ring from his finger.
It hit the marble floor with a sharp metallic echo.
Every servant standing nearby lowered their eyes.
The bride's face turned ghostly white.
"Adrian..."
He didn't answer.
He knelt in front of his son instead.
For the first time in months...
He truly looked into the little boy's eyes.
The fear wasn't new.
It had been there for a long time.
"I'm sorry," Adrian whispered.
The boy hesitated.
"You didn't believe me."
The words struck harder than any accusation.
Adrian closed his eyes.

"I didn't."
Before he could say another word, Lena spoke quietly.
"Sir... there's something you should see."
She reached into her apron and removed a small voice recorder.
"I started recording after your son begged me not to leave him alone with her."
The bride lunged toward Lena.
"Give me that!"
But Adrian caught her wrist.
His voice was colder than ice.
"Don't."
Lena pressed play.
The hallway filled with the bride's voice.
"You'll never be as important as your mother."
"She's dead."
"And soon your father will forget you too."
A child's quiet sobbing followed.
Then another sentence.
"If you tell anyone..."
"...I'll send Lena away forever."
No one moved.
Even the servants looked horrified.
The bride burst into tears.
"I never meant it!"
"I was only trying to discipline him!"
Adrian looked at her as though she were a complete stranger.
"You weren't raising a child."
"You were breaking one."
Without another word, he removed the wedding necklace from around her neck.
"The wedding is over."
Downstairs, the orchestra continued playing.
The guests still believed they were waiting for the bride and groom to begin the reception.

The groom walked downstairs carrying his son in his arms.
Lena followed behind.
The bride stood alone in the empty hallway.
