PART 2 — The Wedding Ends Before the First Dance

The hallway remained frozen in silence.
The music from the ballroom continued below, unaware that the marriage had already fallen apart.
Adrian slowly removed his wedding ring.
His eyes never left his bride.
"How long?" he asked quietly.
She swallowed.
"What?"
"How long have you been treating my son like this?"
She tried to force another smile.
"You’re letting a frightened child manipulate you."
But before Adrian could answer, the boy clutched Lena's hand tighter.
"There were more times, Daddy."
His tiny voice trembled.
"When you went to work... she made me eat alone."
"She took Mommy's picture away."
"She said if I cried... you'd send me to boarding school."
Each sentence struck harder than the last.
Guests began climbing the staircase after hearing the shouting.
Within moments, dozens of wedding guests stood silently watching.
The bride noticed them.
Instantly, tears appeared.
She reached toward Adrian.
"Please... you're embarrassing me."
Adrian stepped back.
"No."
"You embarrassed yourself."
Lena quietly handed Adrian a small drawing the boy had hidden inside his jacket.
It showed three stick figures.
A father.
A little boy.
And a woman with angel wings.
The bride wasn't in the picture.
On the back, the child had written in shaky handwriting:
"I hope Daddy doesn't forget me."
Adrian's hands began to shake.
He turned toward the guests.
"The wedding is over."
Gasps echoed through the mansion.
Without another word, he gently lifted his son into his arms.
This time...
The little boy didn't hesitate.
He wrapped both arms around his father's neck and cried.
For the first time in months...
He finally felt safe.
