Chapter 1 – A Child's Truth Shakes the Mansion

Lucía's quiet words lingered in the dining room long after she finished speaking.
No one moved.
No one even reached for a glass.
The string quartet had stopped playing without realizing it.
Forty distinguished guests stared at the tiny girl standing fearlessly before Renata.
The billionaire's fiancée opened her mouth, but no words came out.
For the first time that evening, someone had spoken to her without fear.
Mariana hurried forward, gently placing both hands on her daughter's shoulders.
"Lucía... sweetheart, that's enough."
"I'm sorry, everyone."
She bowed her head, embarrassed.
Lucía looked up at her mother.
"But Mommy... I only told the truth."
A quiet murmur spread through the room.
Several guests exchanged uncomfortable glances.
An elderly senator's wife whispered to the woman beside her.
"The little girl isn't wrong."
Across the table, Doña Leonor slowly placed her wine glass down.
Her calm eyes settled on Renata.
"I've watched Mariana care for this family every single day for nearly two years."
"She's earned respect."
"Not humiliation."
Renata forced a smile.
"Leonor, surely you're not taking the side of an employee over your future daughter-in-law."
Before anyone else could respond...
Santiago spoke.
"No."
His voice was calm.
"I'm taking the side of the person who was treated unfairly."
The room became silent once again.
Renata looked at him in disbelief.
"You can't be serious."
"I am."
He turned toward Mariana.
May you like
"You don't owe anyone another apology."
Mariana could barely believe what she was hearing.
