CHAPTER 2 — Beneath the Scan
Two more doctors entered the room within minutes.
The atmosphere changed—urgent, heavy, controlled chaos hidden behind professional silence.
The woman was moved for a deeper scan.
Stronger imaging. Higher resolution. Different angles.
But the result only made things worse.
Something was there.
Not just one shape.
Multiple faint structures—moving independently, but reacting together, as if coordinated.
One of the doctors whispered:
“This is impossible…”
The pregnant woman turned her head weakly toward them.
“What is inside me?”
No one answered immediately.
The husband grabbed the doctor’s sleeve.
“Tell us the truth.”
The doctor hesitated.
Then finally:
“It’s not behaving like a pregnancy.”
A long silence filled the room.
Then the monitor suddenly spiked again—stronger than before.
