Vanessa looked up in surprise.

"You do?"

"I forgave you years ago."

She frowned.

"Then why didn't you defend yourself that night?"

Daniel smiled.

"Because people reveal themselves better than I ever could."

His words struck harder than any insult.

"I can't change what I did," Vanessa whispered.

"No."

Daniel nodded.

"But you can decide who you'll become tomorrow."

Those words stayed with her.

Over the following year, Vanessa quietly volunteered every weekend at shelters, children's hospitals, and scholarship programs.

She never posted photos.

She never invited reporters.

No interviews.

No publicity.
