CHAPTER 4 — THE WOMAN WHO WALKED AWAY

Three months later...

Whitlock Gardens Estate looked different.

The ballroom had become the headquarters of the Clara Mason Foundation.

Every month, young fashion designers who could never afford formal education received scholarships there.

The first gown displayed inside the gallery wasn't perfect.

Its lace was ripped.

Its train was torn apart.

Exactly as Patricia had left it.

A small plaque rested beneath the dress.

"Never let someone else's pride destroy your worth."

Across town...

Andrew's inheritance had vanished after the collapse of several Whitlock business partnerships.

Patricia's social circle disappeared almost overnight.

The family name no longer opened doors.

One quiet afternoon...

Andrew visited the estate alone.

He stood before the torn wedding dress.

"I should have stood beside you."

Clara approached from behind.

She wore a simple white suit instead of a wedding gown.

"I know."

Andrew lowered his head.

"Can you ever forgive me?"

Clara smiled gently.

"I already have."

"But forgiveness..."

"...doesn't always mean another chance."

She walked toward the ballroom entrance where dozens of young designers were waiting for her.

The future she had built with her own hands.

Not with inherited wealth.

Not with another person's name.

Andrew watched her disappear into the sunlight.

Only then did he understand what Patricia had truly destroyed.

It wasn't a wedding dress.

It was the only woman who had ever loved him without caring about his fortune.

And that was something no amount of money could ever buy back.
