Chapter 3 – Every Secret Comes Out

Detective Laura Mitchell requested every employee remain inside the mansion.
One witness after another came forward.
The cook admitted Isabella often denied Emily meals.
The gardener described hearing Emily cry late at night.
The housekeeper revealed hidden bruises she had quietly treated for weeks.
Then came the biggest surprise.
The estate attorney arrived carrying several sealed documents.
He cleared his throat.
"Mr. Carter..."
Nathan looked up.
"These documents were prepared by your late father."
He opened the folder.
"The mansion does not legally belong to you."
Everyone stared.
"It belongs to Emily Brooks."
Silence.
Nathan blinked in disbelief.
"What?"
The attorney continued.
"Your father transferred the property into Emily's name before his death because she cared for him during his final illness."
Isabella stumbled backward.
"This... this can't be real."
"It is."
Daniel smiled for the first time that day.
"So the woman screaming, 'This house is mine'..."
He looked around the room.
"...never owned it at all."
Police officers placed handcuffs on Isabella.
