Chapter 2: The Secret the Mansion Was Built On

The pregnant woman regained consciousness at the hospital.
She found the man sitting quietly beside her bed.
His suit jacket was folded neatly over a chair.
He hadn't left her side.
"I'm sorry," he said softly.
"I should have come home sooner."
Tears filled her eyes.
"You believed me?"
He reached into his pocket and removed a small velvet box.
Inside was a wedding ring.
"I never stopped."
She broke into tears.
He gently took her hand.
"There is something you deserve to know."
He handed her a folder stamped with the family's corporate seal.
Years earlier, his late father had rewritten his will.
The mansion...
The businesses...
Every family asset...
Had been left to his unborn grandchild.
The woman in crimson had discovered the document months ago.
If the baby survived...
She would lose everything.
That was why she had tried to destroy both mother and child.
