CHAPTER 3 — The Price of One Push

Night fell over the villa, but no one left.

Clara survived.

Weak, but alive.

When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Daniel sitting beside her bed, still in a damp shirt, still refusing to change, as if leaving that moment behind would make it less real.

The little boy slept on the chair beside him, exhausted from crying.

For a moment, everything felt almost peaceful.

Until footsteps echoed outside the room.

Security.

Lawyers.

And a quiet announcement no one wanted to hear.

The woman in white had been detained.

But Daniel didn’t look satisfied.

Because justice, to him, was not a room.

Not a system.

Not a process.

It was consequences.

Later that night, he stood alone on the balcony, looking out at the pool.

The water was still again.

Like nothing had ever happened.

Clara approached slowly behind him.

“You saved me,” she whispered.

Daniel didn’t turn.

“I was too late,” he replied.

“You weren’t.”

A long silence followed.

Then Daniel finally spoke, voice low and unshaken.

“She made one mistake.”

Clara looked at him.

“One push,” he continued. “That’s all it took to end her life as she knew it.”

He turned slightly, eyes cold but steady.

“And tomorrow… she will learn what it means to fall without water to catch you.”

May you like

The villa stayed quiet.

But nothing in it would ever be the same again.
