Chapter 2: The Courthouse Attack
Months passed.
The criminal investigation expanded while the divorce entered its final hearings.
Khloe, now eight months pregnant, finally felt strong enough to appear in court.
Harrison insisted she use a private entrance.
She refused.
"I'm done hiding."
The hearing ended better than anyone expected.
The judge ordered Richard to disclose every remaining asset.
Outside the courthouse, reporters gathered behind barricades.
Richard avoided every camera.
Vanessa, however, had lost everything.
Her design contracts had vanished.
Luxury friends disappeared overnight.
The expensive apartment Richard rented for her was under foreclosure after his accounts were frozen.
When she saw Khloe walking down the courthouse steps beside Harrison, months of bitterness exploded.
"You ruined my life!" Vanessa screamed.
Khloe kept walking.
"I'm not talking to you."
Vanessa rushed forward.
"You stole Richard!"
Several witnesses later testified that Khloe never touched her.
Vanessa shoved her with both hands.
The force struck directly above Khloe's stomach.
She lost her balance.
Then came the horrifying fall.
Thirty marble steps.
The sound of her body striking stone echoed through the courthouse plaza.
Blood spread beneath her almost instantly.
People screamed.
Lawyers rushed forward.
Richard simply stood frozen.
Harrison reached his sister first.
He pressed both hands against the bleeding while paramedics fought to stabilize her.
Khloe opened her eyes only once.
"Please..."
